A great query letter will tell your editor or agent all about you and your manuscript in a way that gets them excited to read your synopsis and sample pages (maybe even the full!).

If you’re worried your letter is missing essential information, doesn’t encapsulate the overall tone of your story, or accurately portray your body of work, then this is the service for you.

The Query Letter Assessment includes one edit pass with two revision passes after changes have been implemented.

At the end of the work, you’ll receive:

  • An edited and polished query letter
  • Ideas for how you can personalize your template letter for specific editors or agents you plan on querying
  • A handy Query Letter Necessities Checklist to use for your next book
$30

Synopsis Review

Summarizing your story in 8 pages or less is a pain in the rear, but a necessity nonetheless.

Used for more than the initial acquisition, your synopsis needs to accurately outline the important plot points and emotional beats of your book for the cover art, BCC, and marketing departments!

If you’re worried you’ve left out a key event, aren’t selling the intended reader experience, or want to learn how to use your synopsis to troubleshoot your manuscript, then consider booking a Synopsis Review!

This service includes one edit pass and one revision pass after you’ve implemented changes.

At the end of the work, you’ll receive:

  • An edited synopsis
  • A handy Synopsis Diagnostics Checklist to help you self-edit your book

The opening chapters of your book are the most vital. They hook the reader, introduce the main plot, and showcase the world and characters you’ve created. Most importantly, they set up your story and the reader’s expectations for the rest of the book. They need to dazzle.

If you’re wondering if you’ve started the story in the right place, if your main characters’ GMCs are clear, or if you’ve set-up the plot in a way that hooks the reader into reading more pages, then the Opening Chapters Assessment is for you.

At the end of the work, you’ll receive:

  • A light developmental edit of the first 20k words of your manuscript (i.e. in-manuscript comments via Track Changes)
  • A detailed editorial letter (≥ 3 pages) that outlines what you’ve done well, what could be strengthened, questions I hope the rest of the manuscript will answer, and the overall attractiveness and marketability of your story

Submission Package Review

Nothing is more frustrating than form rejections that don’t really tell you why your manuscript was passed over, or what you could do to strengthen your writing.

If you’re looking to reposition your submission materials or just want feedback on your entire query package, then the Submission Package Review is the service for you.

It’s also a chance to pilot test your submission materials and revise them before you officially go “On Query”.

At the end of the work, you’ll receive:

  • An acquisitions critique on how well your current materials work together to sell me your manuscript, telling you if I would request the full manuscript, acquire on proposal, reject, or request an R&R, and why!
  • An edited query letter (with 1 revision pass)
  • An edited synopsis (with 1 revision pass)
  • A light developmental edit of the first 20k words of your manuscript (i.e. in-manuscript comments via Track Changes)
  • A detailed editorial letter that outlines what does and doesn’t work, suggestions to strengthen your manuscript, as well as a list of key selling points that you can use to attract interest
