The silver manuscript critique offers an overall assessment of your story from the reader’s perspective. I look at macro elements such as character development, believability, pacing, plot holes, and inconsistencies.
If you are looking for feedback on your story or characters on a conceptual level (i.e. Does this work? What should I do more of?), or want to know where to focus your revision efforts, then this is the service for you.
The Silver Manuscript Critique includes one reading pass.
At the end of the work, you’ll receive:
- A detailed editorial letter (≥ 5 pages)
- A short follow up email (≤ 350 words) answering questions relating to the editorial letter

Gold Manuscript Critique
The more comprehensive Gold Manuscript Critique is an excellent option if you want what I call “story mechanics diagnostics”. Basically, it’s an in-depth look at how the developmental elements of your story work together at a chapter level.
This service is for you if you’re looking for more pinpointed feedback on how the concerns delineated in the editorial letter impact your book’s individual chapters. If you’re looking for a step by step outline of what needs to be changed and how it’ll help create the reader experience you’re trying to achieve, then I recommend booking the Gold Manuscript Critique.
This service includes one reading pass.
At the end of the work, you’ll receive:
- A comprehensive editorial letter (≥ 8 pages)
- A Revisions Cheat Sheet (≥ 5 pages) that outlines what works and what could be improved in each chapter of your book, and how those elements contribute to the overall reader experience
- A 20-minute Zoom call to discuss any questions or ideas before you start revisions
- An email exchange (≤ 800 words) answering questions that crop up as you revise

Let’s be honest—self-publishing is a very costly endeavour, particularly because you never know how much return on investment you’ll get until you’re already thousands of dollars out of pocket.
If you can’t afford developmental editing (now or back when you started), have received less-than-desired reviews, or you want to republish a stronger or updated version of a book you just got the rights back to, the Republish/Restructure Critique is a great option for you.
This service includes one edit pass and one free “On the Right Track” pass after you’ve implemented changes.
At the end of the work, you’ll receive:
- A light developmental edit of your manuscript (i.e. in-manuscript comments via Track Changes)
- An extensive editorial letter (≥ 8 pages) that outlines what you’ve done well, what could be strengthened, as well as a list of key selling points that you can use to attract reader interest
- A Revisions Cheat Sheet (≥ 5 pages) that outlines what works and what could be improved in each chapter of your book, and how those pinpointed elements contribute to the overall reader experience
- A 30-minute Zoom call to discuss any questions or ideas before you start revisions
- A brief revision letter (≤ 2 pages) commenting on the revised manuscript after the “on the right track” pass
- A short email (≤ 350 words) answering questions relating to the revision letter

Authenticity (Sensitivity) Read
An authenticity read (also known as a sensitivity read or a targeted critique) is a great tool for authors writing outside their areas of knowledge and experience, who want to make sure that the representation in their book is both authentic and avoids harming the reader.
If you’re an author who is writing cross-culturally and have some hesitation on whether you’re writing in your blind spot, then an authenticity read is a good way to check in with someone of that culture to point out any inaccuracies or aspects you may not have considered.
I am particularly equipped to read for the experiences of:
- Fat, Black cis-gendered women
- Black people in majority White spaces
- Southern African nationals raised in the USA (e.g. impact of matriarchial and non-traditional/Western family structures)
- People who travel extensively
- And more…
For a full list of of my areas of expertise, please email me.
This service includes one edit pass and one free reading pass after you’ve implemented changes.
At the end of the work, you’ll receive:
- An editorial letter (≥ 3 pages)
- Extensive in-manuscript comments via Track Changes
- An email (≤ 500 words) giving feedback to any revisions made after the reading pass
